All Those Followers, No Stars

A poem about people with lots of followers on GitHub, but no stars.

I see you’re very popular with the developer community.

But this doesn’t mean you can walk around with impunity.

Corporate might pay you in currency your government generates at the click of a button.

But these stars can only be created when someone is inspired or something.

So fuck you! Go ahead. Report my account.

GitHub support will laugh at you when they see your star amount.

You give all that value to corporate wallets so your coworkers vouch.

Well, in the Open Source World, stars are what counts.

I’m not here to play politics. Just code.

So go back to your wagie cage, where you struggle with Node.

I code in Go. I code in Rust. I code in C++. Don’t know those?

You React monkey! That’s why your boss won’t care if you get hit by a bus.

As for me, I contribute to the world when I wake up.

You add 10 more tickets with each commit, but think you’re hot stuff.

You’re so old you actually have the experience listed on the job application the HR employee made without a fuss.

I’m so fresh you can suck my nuts.
